7 DAYS to PLOW into the Year Ahead!
Recently at our Firstfruits Celebration, the Lord released a strategic word about “watching.” This is usually not a season that we are watchful. However, many enemies are on the road ahead. I believe during this time, we must pull aside and let the Lord clear our path, clear the atmosphere, and open up the way.
As Ezra 8:15, 21-23 says, “I assembled them by the river that runs to Ahava, and we camped there. I reviewed the people and the cohanim (priests) but found no L’vi’im (Levites) there.
“Then, there at the Ahava River, I proclaimed a fast so that we could humble ourselves before our God and ask a safe journey of Him for ourselves, our little ones and all our possessions. For I would have been ashamed to ask the king for a detachment of soldiers and horsemen to protect us from enemies along the road, since we had said to the king, ‘The hand of our God is on all who seek Him, for good; but His power and fury is against all who abandon Him.’ So we fasted and asked our God for this, and He answered our prayer.”
Ask the Lord to choose a fast for 3 days for you before the end of the year. As we enter this 7-day night watch before the end of the year, I believe we will receive a new anointing.
Anne Tate, our Prayer Director, has developed a focus and summarized some insights from Reordering Your Day to help you along your road and into the new calendar year. I was impressed that we were to fill all four night watches during these 7 days. Find your place in the watch and let Anne know by either responding to chuckp[at]gloryofzion.org or by sending an email directly to Anne at annet[at]gloryofzion.org.
We must move corporately at this time into the new place the Lord is calling us. In doing so, we want to remember that we are currently in a wilderness season that requires watchfulness. In this season, not only must we come up from the wilderness, but we must know that snakes are waiting in the year ahead to poison our entry into the best that is being offered to us from the Lord. Therefore, we must watch, be alert, and careful as we advance (read Psalm 91).
Prayerfully consider what your watch time is to be. Let us synergize our prayers together until we cross over and start the year off right. As you pray during your time assigned by the Lord, you will become like accurate archers who HIT THE MARK in 2009. One can put a thousand to flight in the spirit realm, and two can put ten thousand to flight.
In these times of conflict, we must stay focused. Our role as God’s people is to plow forward in the spirit realm. War is inevitable, but we are a Triumphant Reserve. We need to lay aside all of our opinions and enter in and pray victoriously. Opinions will neutralize the unity necessary to release an anointing to overthrow the enemy’s plan in the earth. We are grafted into God’s covenant plan for His covenant people, Israel. This is where our victory lies – remaining true to God’s covenant plan. We must have His same mind over His covenant.
If we stand strong, we will SEE God moving! You are a part of God’s covenant plan to see His Kingdom advance. YOU ARE A NATION OF TRIUMPHANT PRIESTS! You are a peculiar people, a member of God’s Kingdom, a nation above all nations (see 1 Peter 2:9). There will always be wars and rumors of wars, but remember, the end is not yet.
We are so grateful for all of you who have been joining us onsite or on the webcast for corporate intercession. I look forward to seeing many, many of you at our Starting the Year Off Right Conference in January.

Dear Night Watchers:
I am excited to watch with you through the end of the year. I have just attended the annual meeting of the International Coalition of Apostles in Orlando. Many key insights came forth that will help us determine the future development of the Church as a victorious instrument in our Lord’s hands. Use the information below to help you focus through the end of the year.
1. First Watch! The Evening Watch! The Evening watch begins at 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. In Reordering Your Day, we find that this is a time which we need to “still” ourselves from the world and to meditate. One of the Scriptures for this watch is Genesis 24:63, “Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening. He lifted his eyes and looked, and there, the camels were coming.”
In Isaac’s place of meditation he saw his future. We need to meditate until we see our future. Meditation quiets our emotions, realigns our mind, and frees our will to do the will of God. What we could not hear clearly, we begin to hear. Meditation is like a cow chewing her cud. Cows have four stomachs that each mouthful of food must be processed through, until what is being chewed fully enters the blood stream.
This is a season when we must see from the vantage point of the wilderness. When Isaac lifted his eyes, there was Eliezer bringing Rebekah back to be his bride. This actually created the extension of the covenant of Abraham in the earth. During this watch we want to get focused on God’s covenant plan that will bring us through the season of wilderness and out on the other side with a mindset for success.
2. The Second Watch! The Midnight Watch! This watch begins at 9:00 pm and ends at Midnight. In Reordering Your Day, Chuck explains that this is the time for thanksgiving as well as visitation. During this watch God is dealing with the enemies that are trying to keep us from entering into His perfect plan for our lives. Expect some warfare during this watch. Set the Blood of our Lord between you and every demonic force that could hinder you from gaining the revelation you need to advance.
During this watch see the enemies in the wilderness that would try to extend and enlarge our wilderness time, delay their destruction, and obstruct our promises. The second watch is also a time of scattering and we want to gather up all the fragments of what has been scattered. One of the Scriptures for this watch is Exodus 11:4, “Then Moses said, ‘Thus says the LORD “About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt…”‘”
As we pray during this watch, we want to carry the expectation that the Lord will intervene and deliver us as a triumphant reserve into our destiny.
3. Third Watch! The Breaking of the Day (Cock crowing) Watch! From Midnight until 3:00 am, the focus of the previous watch continues with the additional understanding that there is much spiritual activity occurring during this time period, including our own dream realm. The focus in this Third Watch should be an increase in the communications from the Lord into our dream life. We want to particularly focus our prayer on those that may be growing weary in the wilderness.
Peter’s denial of the Lord came during this watch and we want to focus on combating doubt and unbelief, and calling for increased discernment and revelation to recognize and get into the path of the Lord. We want to war with any covenant breaking spirits in our lives and the lives of those occupying the territories we are praying and standing in intercession for. During this watch we want to particularly hear the revelation that will cause us to see our circumstances in a different way.
4. The Fourth Watch! The Morning Watch – A New Day Dawning! Beginning at 3:00 am and ending at 6:00 am, this watch is linked with the approaching morning light and the breaking of the day. When daylight comes, your position is exposed to the eyes of the enemy. During this watch, you become covered with the glory of the Lord. Read Exodus 14:24. We want to focus on staying covered in the cloud of His glorious presence by day, while the Lord troubles the forces of resistance aligned against us.
In 2 Kings 11, we find a pattern of focus for this watch linked into a new government forming and a royal positioning. One third of the resources were spent watching at the King’s house! One third of the forces were spent watching at the Gate of Sur which means “Defectors or those who would turn back!” Finally, one third of the resources were spent watching at the gate as a rear guard! In this way, the Lord’s plan for His people was safeguarded because the next move of the King was compassed or surrounded.
We want to focus our prayers during this time on watching for the King’s timing for transition, guarding our hearts against defection or discouragement that would cause us to turn back, and rear guarding all those that are praying in the previous watches in the night.
In all four watches we will be crying out to the Lord for revelation and advancement of His purposes in us as well as in all of the spheres of influence and assignment we are a part of.
We welcome all who are called to the watches and are quickened to serve in this 7-day focus. Some of you have already begun to notify me of what you are hearing concerning your particular watch time. Please email me at annet[at]gloryofzion.org and tell me which watch you feel you are to stand in through the end of the year. We want to cover all four watches and if your watch is overly filled, we may reassign you to the position of greatest need.
7-Day Prayer Focus
Day 1: Read Hosea 10, especially verse 11 and 2 Kings 11. Unshakable praise plows through the hardest ground. When the ground is hard, when the circumstances are adverse, God’s favor is on the one who will lead off with praise. Fallow ground will break up. Declare the plow of praise will cut through ungiving earth and make a way for the good seed of the Word to be planted.
Day 2: Read Psalm 30:5 and John 14. “Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning.” Unshakable praise must keep going. Judah goes first through wilderness experiences. Judah goes first in the war for our inheritance. Judah goes first to plow a way into new territory. Judah goes first when the cost is great.
Day 3: Read James 3, 4 and 5. The Word of God tells us to submit ourselves to God, draw near to Him and then resist the devil. I believe that as we worship and submit ourselves to a holy God, we can come into intimate contact with Him. Even though we walk here on the earth in our worshipful submission, we ascend into Heaven. As we individually seek God and ascend into the Throne Room, we can hear the sound in Heaven in our spirit man on Earth.
Day 4: Read Numbers 10 and Revelation 1. God always led His people forth with sound. We find in Numbers 10 that trumpets would sound. We also find this all the way through the book of Revelation. The book of Revelation is just an incredible, elaborate pageant that is interpreted to us by heavenly, celestial singers along with creatures and elders.
John saw a door standing open in Heaven, and the voice he heard was like a trumpet speaking and saying, “Come up here and I will show you things that must take place after this” (Revelation 4:1). The Lord’s voice many times sounds like a trumpet calling us forth (see Revelation 1:10). The trumpet or shofar in the Word of God had a distinct sound to assemble and call God’s people to war.
Day 5: Read 2 Samuel 5-8. Another sound we find before God led His troops forward was “the wind in the mulberry trees.” In 2 Samuel 5, David had experienced a major breakthrough in his own life. What had been prophesied over him 29 years prior had actually come into fulfillment. He then had to lead the armies forth into battle.
David had one driving purpose: to get the Ark of the Covenant of God back into its rightful position in the midst of God’s covenant people. When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king, they rose up against him. David defeated and drove them back out of his jurisdictional authority. However, they regrouped and started coming back at him again. He then asked the Lord if he was to pursue them. In 2 Samuel 5:24 the Lord answers, “And…when you hear the sound of the marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly.”
The sound of marching was not just the wind blowing the tops of the trees, but it was the hosts of Heaven and the armies of God rustling the leaves, signifying they were present to help David in the victory. In the book of Revelation, we find the real issue is relationship between the sounds of Heaven and the demonstration of God on Earth. Sound leads us forth. Dethrone your Philistine structure.
Day 6: Read Deuteronomy 20 and 32:30. Pray Deuteronomy 11. One can put 1,000 to flight, but two can put 10,000 to flight. This is a valuable principle of multiplication. Ask the Lord for an increase in strength.
Day 7: Read Matthew 14, Luke 14, and Matthew 18:19. Jesus told us, “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in Heaven” (Matthew 18:19). This is the power of agreement that increases the effectiveness of our prayers. The word “agree” means to come into harmony with. It actually means we make the same sound on Earth that is coming from Heaven. Declare that our sounds on earth will be in harmony with the sounds of Heaven.
